I've spent thirty years in the software and systems development space in various capacities.
For the past ten years I've been extremely fortunate to be able to focus all my efforts on one crucial aspect of software development - business analysis.
While the area of business analysis was interesting when I began this focus, it has since become an obsession. I see it as one area of the software development life-cycle that is so critical to success, and yet it is one of the least mature.
The really difficult challenges exist in larger enterprises where project portfolios are broad and varied, where projects can be immense, staff and stakeholders distributed, the subject matter complex, and then on top of this multiple layers of business constraints.
It is these really tough problems that I have a fascination with and want to analyze and solve. If this describes the environment your in, then I hope you'll frequent this blog and weigh in with your own experience, knowledge, and advice.
While I work for a software vendor in the space, this blog reflects my personal views and opinions.
